Ready, set, go!

from 04-10-2026

Starting Monday, October 5, our Museum opens for the 14th season of the "Museums. Parks. Manors" School Tournament - a joint venture of the city's Departments of Education and Culture.

To keep yourself informed we strongly recommend reviewing the particulars on our page in the Tournament catalogue before your visit.
Please note that participation at our Museum is open only to students in grades 8–9 and 10–11, which means that parents and other adults are not allowed to assist participants on the spot. That includes all communication with museum staff and “helping to write down the answers”. For the same reasons we don't combine guided tours with on-sight round of the Tournament.
Registered participants must first solve the remote round to get a participant code that unlocks the on-sight round In the Museum.
Visiting hours for tournament participants are 12:00 to 19:00 PM on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Prior booking by phone 8 (495) 656-45-71 is required due to the Museum's limited space.
All relevant information is available at the “Museums. Parks. Manors" School tournament website https://museum.cpm.moscow/museums/169. Our own website will also reflect the updates.

"What Do the Dybbuks Say: From An-sky to Contemporary Cinema"

from 17-10-2026

Lecture by Svetlana Pakhomova – a research fellow at our Museum and a specialist in Jewish and Israeli cinema

The dybbuk is one of the most striking figures in Jewish tradition and in mysticism at large. After stepping onto the theatrical stage in the early 1920s – thanks to the efforts of the ethnographer and playwright S. An-sky – the dybbuk has remained in the creative spotlight, eventually migrating to the screen. While An-sky’s play “Between Two Worlds” became almost a compulsory part of national theaters’ repertoires, in cinema the story is currently experiencing a revival across a wide variety of genres. Why is this happening now, so many years later?
One can find out more about this at a joint lecture featuring our own Svetlana Pakhomova and film scholar Denis Viren from the Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The lecture will take place on October 25 at 6:00 PM at the Jewish Museum and Tolerance Center.
