New year's story of the season!

from 13-01-2025

Our Museum is privileged to possess an archive and several work models of the remarkable sculptor Lev Razumovsky (1926-2006). He dedicated a huge part of his work not only to the heroes of World War II and blockade survivors but also to the theme of peace.
Despite losing his arm at the front, he studied to become a sculptor, which in itself is a personal heroism! Razumovsky carried the memory of the war throughout his life. He was one of the authors of the memorial Book of the Living (2004) and other documentary works about the war. All his post-war creativity was aimed at one thing - to overcome the trauma of the war, to create and glorify the beauty that peace and life give.
Recently our colleagues from the Museum of Yule tree toys in Klin have reminded us of a little-known fact from Razumovsky’s creative biography. After the war, this incredibly courageous man, with a harsh military school behind him, became a professional creator of children's toys: more than 100 works were made after his models and produced in large numbers. Some of them were actually Yule tree toys…
