Independent Jewish Workers Party. ‘To Society’. 5 June 1903. Offset on paper. 20.7 х 13.5. Appeal by the Minsk Jewish Independent Committee for a struggle against cruelty in the working environment. The Independent Jewish Workers Party (whose members were known also by the epithets ‘Zubatovtsy’ and ‘Economists’) was an organization that attempted to channel the Jewish workers movement in Russia into the framework of legal trade-unionism. It was founded in July 1901 in Minsk by a group of former members of the Bund at the initiative of S. Zubatov, head of the Moscow secret police. At the time Zubatov was creating workers movements that would be under the control of the police. The party disbanded on 6 June 1903.
